About
Rovers Search and Rescue
Rovers Search and Rescue is a volunteer organization based in St.
John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The team is comprised of over 65
highly skilled, dedicated professional men and women. For over 37
years now Rovers have been working with the Royal Newfoundland
Constabulary, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, St. John's Regional
Fire Department and Canadian Coast Guard to provide search and
rescue services, community services, and providing educational
services to the constituents of the North-East Avalon.
What are Rovers?

Rovers is a section of the Scouts Canada
Organization, with members aged 18 years and older.

All sections of the Scouting movement have a
motto. The Rover motto is "Service"

Every Rover crew performs a community service
project to help better their community and themselves

Our Rover Crew has chosen something that we are
all very passionate about, Search and Rescue

Founded in 1972, Originally part of the
Emergency Measures Organization (EMO)

There was a need for more support for EMO

The Rovers were recruited to perform Search and
Rescue.

EMO carried out the original training exercises.

Completely volunteer & non-profit organization

Comprised of two Rover crews from the Region,
6th St.John's and 3rd Wesley
-
Total membership is presently approximately 65
highly skilled and knowledgeable men and women.

assist in any situation.

Primary Mandate

Constabulary (RNC) for Ground Search and Rescue Operations and other
